Jemma Tito was a lovely bride who purchased all of her items on the phone via our Auckland store. She bought the gorgeous Kadence from Maggie Sottero. She got married back in February 2010 in her home town of KeriKeri.

She also got two flowergirl gowns from the Spratz collection which she then personalised with sashes to match her bridesmaid gowns. She used the style B01 as the base for the dresses. That is the beauty of these very resonably priced little dresses. Thy can be tailored to suit your wedding theme.

Tatum, one of our Astra brides, and her husband Reagan are featured in the real weddings section this month. Their beautiful vineyard ceremony was so romantic. After the ceremony the couple released 2 white doves symbolising their unconditional love. Tatum and Reagan said this was a huge highlight for them.

Tatum looked stunning in the Maggie Sottero Coco gown.

The Coco has a sweetheart neckline adorned with beaded lace embellishments. The ruched bodice drapes asymmetrically at the waist and a beaded motif accents the side front.

Always excited to talk about weddings - Little Treasues magazine gave us a call to ask about women getting married having already started their family.

Director of Astra Bridal Lori McPherson, says that they’ve introduced toy boxes to their shops and expanded their flowergirl range. Her gown prices range form $2000 to $5000 and a good 30 percent of her brides are mothers.

Why the shift to a child-friendly focus? It’s probably as much a reflection of society as anything else. Lori McPherson theorises “We are seeing lots of people taking their time, getting their career established first. And it’s not taboo to have a child out of wedlock. I think New Zealand has one of the lowest marriage rates in the world – de facto relationships are common. So it doesn’t matter at what point in happens”

Kristin has also modelled at the Grand wedding show so she really knows how to move and show off a gown!

The Viva had a wedding supplement and asked us to comment on the lastest looks out for this season.

The transcript of the quote from Lori is

"The key trend coming through is fun. Gowns are moving away from simplicity. The one shoulder with full skirts can have a sense of fun. Lace details as well as lace gowns are a trend and we are seeing diamante embellishments returning, with a move away from the pearl. Tulle is on the way back in and there is a nod to Hollywood with the gowns made of gorgeous fabrics with sheen. The one strap down the back is also coming back in to style. Big ballgowns are the latest runway style we are seeing from the overseas designers, with lots of drama.

Ready made gowns today are available with variations, be it colour, optional straps, lace up or zip up, coloured beading, choices of ribbon contrast. Be true to your figure and get the base gown that makes you look the best. Then use options to make the gown individual. As well as those mentioned already girls can go with veils and other accessories to dress up or simplify a look. Brooches are “in” and a bride will often source something herself or use a family heirloom to add to a gown. A veil can change a gown completely and put a brides signature on her own look. Think about the kind of wedding “image” you want to give with your gown. Is it romantic, sexy, formal, fun, contemporary, princess, traditional? Being clear on what is your look will give you great direction in finding the right gown. We can find many gowns to make someone look amazing but it needs to suit their personality, location and wedding style as well.

Choosing a gown is a collaboration between the bride, her consultant and any advisors she brings. But the final decision belongs to the bride."
